The Ol’Trans Am

transam.jpg

Back in high school my (now) husband owned a 1980 Trans-Am nicknamed “Tazam” (he was into Taz at the time – still is really). The beastly car was primer gray and blue and had t-tops. The doors didn’t lock well and I personally have almost fallen out of it WHILE IN MOTION. But: he paid $600 bucks for it – and for a high school senior with barely a job, that was awesome. I learned to drive on that thing and while I thought it was HORRIBLY UGLY at the time – I have to say I miss that old car.

My husband, if he had taken care of it (he joined the Navy and left it home), would most likely still (try and) have that car. He loved it so much – but alas, it wasn’t started for awhile and the engine seized. He wanted to do so much to it – paint it of course (although, I think primer gray was the colour du jour of our county) and soup it up and make it all turbocharged so he could “race it up on Hexam” (which WAS a dirt road but has since been paved I think). Um yeah, we lived in a pretty “country” like county … could you tell?

But; he’s an “adult” now and no longer has his “Tazam80” … We need to fit a car seat in our car of course and the Trans-Am just can’t support that (although my hubby vehemently disagrees!). I’m sure he’d be just as happy with a super cool Audi turbocharger sitting in our driveway. Hey, he could even “race it up on Hexam” and not have to worry about (1) losing and (2) the engine falling out of the car!

Heh … so, the moral of the story? Don’t leave your prized car with your parents when you join the Navy (give it to your girlfriend!!) and please check out Turbochargerpros.com for all you “turbocharge” needs! M’kay? W0rd!

Ps. Hubby only WISHES his car looked like the one pictured … but, you get the idea ;)

Break It Down Now

My fabulous child LET me sleep until 10 am. I feel a ton better (although the nose is still running and the throat is still sore). But, the boy was handed a timer set for (*2hoursbadmommycough*) and told to get a granola bar and watch some television. He DID (well, he played Mario Kart for a bit … he knows not to touch the Wii without me out there). I heard the timer go off and he came in - the best part? He came in with a can of JavaMonster from the fridge!!! Who freakin’ trained this child!?!?! (oh. me. that’s right.) He’s TOO AWESOME! (I’m SUCH a bad Mommy aren’t I?)

I’ve been reading about BlogHer lately and the posts are really exciting! I might try and attend next year because I’d love to meet all the cool blog chicks I’ve “met” online. Glad to see everyone had fun!! Lori looked gorgeous, Elizabeth took over 200 pictures, Lotus sent her BEWBS and Maria now has a social hangover! I’m enjoying checking out their awesome pictures and also reading all the awesome blogs they’ve been link lovin’ on! Niiiiice!

Next up … IzeaFest!! Who’s going?! I’M GOING!!!

AND … on a COMPLETELY OTHER NOTE … while I was rooting for Autumn on “Legally Blonde the Musical: Search for Elle Woods” - I’ve decided that I am happy that Bailey Hanks won. She’s very suited for the role and will do an awesome job. I still absolutely ADORE Autumn though - and I hope to see her in a show at some point. I believe she is working on a cd (there are some demo’s on her website) and I will certainly pick it up when it comes out. Check her out - she’s amazing!

Alllright … I’m OUT (for um .. right now)

OMG Nakedness!

I hear my name being yelled as I’m sitting on the couch eating some spicy (!) krab dip so I head into the bedroom and hear the yelling is coming from the bathroom. “Can I get some Xander shampoo?” asks hubby. Apparently, it’s shower time in the house and I wasn’t invited! LOL! Xander loves to take showers with Daddy; although Daddy isn’t entirely comfortable with them - he goes along with it most of the time.

Xander is OBSESSED with body parts right now; so usually when one of us is naked hilarity ensues. I was changing the other day and Xander runs into the bedroom and screams “MOMMA’S GOT BEWBIES!!!” Yeah, thanks kid.

Then again; when I change in front of his Daddy - his Daddy is quick to point out that “MOMMA’s GOT BEWBIES!!!” also … I guess that’s where he got it from. Boys are insane.

I guess we should get some digital signage up in here in neon lights to announce “Naked Time” just so everyone knows. What do you think?

Ha! Menudo Comes Up Again!

I’m sitting here watching a DVR’d episode of “The Soup Presents: People Who Won’t Go Away” (er, something) and Joel McHale just brought up Mario Lopez dancing on “Husband for Hire” (whatever that was). The song? “Hold Me” (which I recognized right off the bat - SCARY HUH?)

Here’s the clip of Mario (on the Soup)

Here’s the record (yes, VINYL) that I had growing up - I’m not even sure if “Hold Me” is on that one, but I know little Ricky Martin was in the original music video :) Yay for the 80’s!

I gotta see what MP3’s I can find …. :)

Thinking Back

Xander is happily playing “Mater Nationals” on our Playstation, so I’ve got a moment to blog here. I spend the better part of last night poking around on MySpace and my high school’s new networking website Bear Connections (if you went to high school at Central High in Brooksville, Florida get on there!) I guess I was looking for old friends; although I think I’ve got “old friends” pretty covered already on my MySpace. The people that I stayed in contact with - I’m still talking to pretty often, for which I am thankful for.

Everyone has obviously changed, but somehow they’ve stayed the same. Certain friends you can always count on to tell you “um, that outfit? No way!” or buy you a birthday cake for your birthday. Sometimes your friends take care of you, other times you take care of them. That’s the whole point of friendship; be it in person or super far from each other.

I’m weirdly looking forward to my 10 year reunion. Seeing all the people I was friends with in Elementary school and Middle school - but maybe not so much in high school will be interesting. High school (well, and middle) brought on so much extra baggage (hello hormones!!) so it was difficult to remain friends with some.

I’m sad that some of my very best friends and I grew apart in high school just long enough to miss important things in my life such as a wedding and a baby; but thankfully, we’ve gotten back into the swing of things and are close friends again. But there are parts of life you obviously cannot get back.

I miss my friends from high school; I also miss friends that I had while overseas and from our last command. Moving so much is wonderful - but it also sucks in the same sense.

But again; that reunion is looming and I’ve been spreading the word. I hope to meet back up with a lot of people; not to mention see all those old crushes I had and check out if they are still hot or not, lol! I need to work on my appearance though beforehand - I want to look hot myself! I don’t want to deal with an Orovo detox diet or try and copy “Romy and Michele” or anything; but I want to get a little more into shape beforehand!

Sleeping Late

We had a friend over last night; so Xander didn’t get to bed until close to 10pm. So, while he came into my room around 7:30am (late to begin with for him) he fell back asleep until 10am!!! Woot! We’re up now and eating breakfast (he’s having honey nut cheerios, I’m having a SlimFast) and getting ready to face our (shorter) day.

I want to get Xander’s room cleaned and organized today. I bought a few shoe-size lidded boxes and want to put his smaller toys (like action figures) into them. I’m trying to get a lot of the toys up off the floor and onto shelves so that he can’t just throw them everywhere. He’s got way too many toys. I also picked up some plastic boxes for $0.97 at Wal-Mart yesterday, they should come in handy also.

I’ve seriously decided that I want a Wii (yeah, how many times have I said that now?) - but this time, I’m for real. Not this paycheck; but hopefully the August 1st paycheck I am going to go into action trying to get one (most likely off ebay). I hope to have it before I leave for Florida in September - I wanna bowl with my Mama!
